This reminds me of a recent Stargate SG-1 episode. They wanted to dump
matter off a star into a black hole using a pair of stargates, one of which
had fallen into a black hole. They mentioned, accurately, that the black
hole would take years to swallow the gate, due to time dilation, but somehow
the gate dialed instantly. ;-)
