Maybe, or maybe those poor people just know how to have fun without
spending money. Hell I'd rather get laid than play video games or watch
tv. I don't know if I'd agree that America's standard of living is really
that satisfying. Less stuff and more free time and friends sounds pretty
damn good to me. I'd say quality of living could be defined by decent
food, shelter, utilities, education, and healthcare. My experience has
been that America falls short in all of those while pushing a
materialistic culture that makes people unhappy.

People just need to put their priorities in order and the living expenses
needed to be happy are much lower. Combined with technology that makes
producing things cheaper and people healthier I don't think we'll see any
big problems.
