You're looking for a shell account, which is getting rarer and rarer
every day. Here are couple shell providers that I know of that have
been around for a LONG time and don't look like they're giving up:
Panix, est. 1989 - http://www.panix.com/ - $10/month
SDF, est. 1987 - http://www.freeshell.org/ - $37 lifetime access (they
also offer extremely limited shells for free.)
Both still offer telnet access (ssh as well for the security-minded.)
Both will also host the mail for your own domain for a reasonable fee.
I've never had an account at Panix, so I can't comment on their
service. From the little bit that I've used my free SDF account, it
looks like they're committed to good shell accounts (on "real" Unix
hardware - Alphas. :)
