I just missed the big @Home -> MediaComm debacle by going to DSL. As much as I
dislike Verizon as a company, I can say I'm pretty pleased with the DSL
service so far. It's been a couple of months now without a single problem. My
pings for gaming are lower, and the connection just seems more "stable". The
only complaints I have at this point are that I can't seem to remember to call
to find out what the dam news server is called, and the lease time is only 23
hours. The lease isn't such a big deal as long as you stay on 99% of the time,
or have a router/gateway holding the connection for you. But, I've heard a
coworker complain several times about losing his lease.
On the email front, I'm in the process of switching from e-smith to a tighter
redhat install, and I'm really impressed with the Postfix/OpenMail
combination. Very cool...
