That is a funny and ironic observation.  Microsoft wants to force people
to upgrade from Win95, but Linux is more accepting of Win95 than is
Microsoft.  So Linux is more MS friendly than MS is.

As you'd expect, the biggest competitor for a monopoly is the monopoly
itself (its earlier products compete with its new ones).  "Planned
obsolescence" helps.  Poor planning of obsolescence is what MS is
confronting with its "XP won't play nice with Win95" strategy.
