Comes back perfectly fine. I did this originally in PL/SQL, but had to
convert it to Perl.

That error message is coming from Oracle not DBD
module or Perl.  It's the exact same message you would
get if you typed that into sqlplus.  Have you tried
copying the query directly into sqlplus with the
username and db you are using in your app and seeing
what happens?
