I have no doubt that php has solid penetration into the web-scripting
sector. It should be pointed out, though, that a quick search at
groups.google.com (aka deja) suggests that, at least as far as Usenet is
concerned, essentially only php-related groups have been interested in
this particular poll. It's kind of the same problem you have with
tallying letters sent to your senator or representative. They could be as
impartial as you like, but we all know that the number of letters sent is
a stronger indicator of lobbying effort as anything else. (Of course,
lobbying is absolutely crucial and good cricket, but lobbyists are only
motivated by their own interests.)
