Ooh...here would be a nifty feature that is arguably also educational.
Some database systems (e.g., Postgresql) provide an "explain" command that
asks the database to give out its plan for a specific query of interest
(helpful to debug queries that seem to be taking "too long"). There's
probably no reason why Mathematica couldn't be asked to give out the same
kind of information. (For all I know it really does this; I haven't
really used it much for like 10 years or so now.)
