An acronym may have been added later, but I've never even heard an acronym
for it... Mom thought the "S" might stand for sending and "AM" might stand
for annoying mail. She didn't think of anything for "P" though. hmm...

Actually, I prefer the story you found. I was always told it meant what I
said... And well, that kind of reinforces the idea that it's mystery meat,
which it's not. I always knew it was mostly ham, so that's a good thing. As
far as the Monty Python script thing... That doesn't seam right. I remember
something other than that, but I can't recall it exactly. It seams like it
was some kind of acronym of some kind.... Any one else?

Apparently we get the term 'spam' from a Monty Python sketch in which they
drowned out all other conversation by repeating the word "spam"
Hormel isn't upset, as this is just free advertising for them.

Shoulder Pork and Meat. It's ham, for the most part, from the front shoulder
of the pig. :-)

I'm trying to find where the word "spam" comes from. Mom asked me last
night what it stood for, and I had always assumed it came from the fact that
