problems i have with HP vs. COMPAQs

I have 3 COMPAQ here, 2 COMPAQ 486dx2/sx2, I personally think they're
great, except there's no drivers for the Adaptec AIX 6xxx series SCSI
adapters, for Linux or FreeBSD.

3rd COMPAQ i have is the P/II, 1 with Riser Card.
so far stuff is compatible, but APM button at top is pain in the
@$$. I like to use that PC as my leg stand, to rest 1 leg on it,
I keep accidently pressing the APM button up on front top. Also, 1 my
orginal complaints, be4 i had linux on it, was the software for VCD never
worked, you could never see Video throu The Camcorder's A/V jacks, but you
can hear Audio throu the Camcorder's A/V jacks, even in linux. Oh
yea.. That Red Nullifer CD has to go, Sony VIAO had something better for
re-installing pre-insatalled software than what COMPAQ had on their Red
Low level formator CD

Now Versus the HP.
Ok, I played with 2 HP boxes, hardware wise.
My Friend's HP, they invented a Case where it splits down in the middle,
so you have to open/close the box like a door on a door henge. To open,
you have to pull front side out 1st, like a door, once 90 degrees pulled
out, then you pull from Behind the PC, you pull it back, if you want put
the left side back on, you make sure you have the screws for the 3 PCI
slots in 1st, on the back side, then you can swing it close.

the HP box I have, you have to have small hands to get under the drive
bay, and plug your IDE-0, IDE-1, and Floppy Cables on, all are under the
Drive bay, you can remove all screws from it, until you're 90 yrs old,
and you can never take it any further apart, later on i found if you take
your foot, hammer it at the top of the side of the front plastic housing,
you can hammer the drive bay out so you can get to the Drive slots thats
under it. oh yea, on the HP boxes, the on-board sound card isn't supported
by linux, so I took a ISA SB 16, pop her in, and I get PnP-Conflicts from
the BIOS, about the Game port, I see no jumper/switch to kill the
on-board sound card.

when i hammered the front panel, i broke all plastic off of it trying
to get the drive bay out, I got plastic cover soldered on, er
I had use a soldering iron to melt the Plastic cover back on, i drill
holes in Cover to get standard Floppy drive notch to go throu, and melted
the drive bay cover onto the drive bay itself, and took a soldering tube
and place it on so the Drive bay doesn't get pushed back into the PC all
the way

Funny story, huh?
too bad i don't have a digital Camera
My Biggest problem of the 2 or any brandname is the intergrated
Solution Shet, the COMPAQ 486 wasn't that bad, only thing intergrated was
SCSI adapter and SB16 was all on 1 ISA card.
