That has to do with css support (major differences in
Netscape and IE and Opera, etc...) and differences in
the document object model in Netscape and IE (this is
pretty easy to overcome with tests from document.all,
etc...). Also, if you're doing animation in DHTML,
there are differences in in getting the object's
current position: i.e. in I.E. you have to take the
parseInt of the object's top or left position and in
Netscape just top or left. Then, in your move routine,
you have to specifiy the unit of measurement in I.E.
(i.e. px) but don't for Netscape. Hence, there is a
lot of testing for document.all in order to provide
for both cases.

I did this pretty cool dhtml interface for a aquarium
site (fish swims from bottom right to bottom left,
stops on the left hand margin, blows bubbles (first
slides off screen second and subsequent bubble are
main navigation features)--mousing over main nav
option causes sub nav options to slide right from
underneath main nav option, etc ...

The only thing I couldn't get to work right in both
Netscape and I.E. was stopping and starting embedded
sound clips. Originally, when the fish starts
swimming, a jaws-like underwater wav file plays, when
the fish stops on the left margin and begins blowing
bubbles, a "blop, blop" -- bubble sound -- wav file is
started (and subsequently stopped) when the main nav
bubbles are in position. This only works in Netscape
(which kind of bumbs me out). So, if anyone on the
list has been able to control embedded sound clips
successfully for both Netscape and I.E., I'd
appreciate the tip!

Whew! That was off topic. :-)
