It's not supposed to be browser dependant. It's all the extensions that they
added to it that makes it change format dependant on browser, if I remember
correctly.

When the W3C set the standards for HTML I wonder if they figured on
having to set a standard for 5 different browsers. I have often just
said F*ck it I will do it with JAVA, at least most browsers display an
applet the way the programmer/Developer intended. I mean how many ways
can you display TEXT other than the way it is written?

Yeah. However, it is truly unacceptable for someone to
design for one browser or another. It's the hallmark
of an amateur or at least a bad designer. I cannot
stand going to sites that say "best viewed with x
browser". True, designers have numerous obstacles to
overcome. However, it isn't all that difficult to test
one's work on multiple O/Ss with multiple browsers.
