I've got an old d-link 10mbs hub with 8 regular ports
and one bnc, i'd be happy to give to you.  I'm not at
home right now though and I won't be back for at least
a week, maybe a little longer.  If you want to wait
you can have it.  I think I paid about $30 for it
years ago when I was trying to do the very same thing
:)  I've since upgraded to 100baseT and got my
notebooks running on wireless network.  It's been
sitting on the shelf collecting dust for a year or two
now.
