Alright, I have about a gazillion ISA ethernet cards I need to get rid of.
Actually, it's more like 35 or 40.
Anyway, most (20-odd) of the cards are 3Com EtherLink III 3c509-A/B/C
10Mbit ISA, and most have twisted pair and coax connections. A couple
have TP, coax, and AUI connections. A couple more have only TP
connections... Choices, choices. ALL of these cards were working pulls
when replaced recently with 10/100 PCI cards and are around 6 months old.
I'm asking, say, $8.00 apiece for these bad boys, but I'm (VERY)
negotiable on price. The same cards are going for between $3.00 and
$10.00 on eBay with a shipping rate of about $5.00 a card. Shipping is a
ripoff. These should work fine under Linux.
I also have about 5 or 10 SMC EtherEZ cards and some other random ISA
ethernet cards... Lets say $4 for one or two of these, your pick. They
worked when I pulled them for replacement with PCI cards about a year ago.
The SMC cards should work fine under Linux, but I don't know about the
random cards that are in my pile.
I would consider trading a bunch of cards for a few things. What I'm
looking for:
o Apple Macintosh (Apple branded) monitor that can do up to 800x600. Must
have that funky wide 15-pin connector that only Apple can do. I'd
prefer a cheap-ass old Apple monitor as this will only be used when
setting up machines.
o 30-pin PARITY (i.e., 8 or 9 chip) SIMMS, 4MB or 16MB sticks x 4. Must
be matched... I'd like to have at least 32MB RAM (4MB x 8), but 64MB
(16MB x 4) would do me better. This is for my my Mac SE/30 NetBSD
project that will most likely end up running (crawling) as the
woodsmall.org domain. Yay for obsolete equipment! This is the stuff
I'm REALLY looking for; yell at me if you have any of the larger 30-pin
RAM SIMMS for sale.
o Any PowerMac machines/stuff that you don't want.
o Anything you think that I would like ;)
Now that that's out of the way: I have a BUNCH of FREE FREE FREE stuff
too. Most of it is at my parent's house in Marshall, MO. Some of it is
here. Tell me what you want and you can pick it up. I might even
consider free delivery if you live in Colmbia ;) Here's the rundown:
o Some Compaq Pentium 60 that has no HD or video card. Don't know about
RAM. I might be able to muster up a PCI video card for a couple bucks
too. Never really used the machine, but it came on a pallet of working
used stuff at an auction, so I'm assuming it just needs some TLC to get
running. I powered it up once with a video card and everything seemed
kosher.
o Two 486 machines - I have no idea on CPU speed, RAM, HD... I just know
they were working when I last powered them up about a year ago. I might
have gutted them or they might be complete machines; I do crazy shit
when I'm drunk. One is a Compaq, one is a Packard Bell. You could
build a nice Linux router with a couple of 3Com ethernet cards (wink
wink, nudge nudge, saynomore saynomore).
o Two Macintosh SEs. I have no idea on these little tykes either. I
think the HDs are shot, if they even have them... I threw one of these
off of a 7-story building at about 4 AM once; it was the single loudest
thing that I have ever heard in my life. And no, don't worry, I had a
lookout to make sure I didn't kill anyone. Jay made a fishtank out of a
Classic (which can be done with these too). Fun.
o Bunch of old Sun stuff. A semi-dead IPC, a semi-dead SparcStation 1,
and a Sun 3/80 that needs a new PRAM battery or something. I'm tired of
trying to make old Sun equipment work. All of my old SGI stuff works.
All of my old Apple stuff works. Why not Sun? This stuff might have
hardware problems and be unfixable. I dunno. A couple of Type 4 or 5
keyboards and maybe a mouse will be included, but I can't promise
anything on cables.
o A small cardboard post-office mailing box with a few smallish (<400 MB)
IDE HDs in it. Again, I'm pretty sure at least some of them work, but
I'm not positive.
o Some old home laser printer. A Lexmark I think. I never even tried to
use the thing. Might work, might not.
o Probably some other miscellaneous shit that I forgot.
Remember, this stuff is FREE and you get what you pay for. If you want
any of it, email me and let me know what you want. I can pick anything in
Marshall in a week or two. You could probably make a pretty capable Linux
network box using the free stuff with a couple of network cards. If
you're trying to get that old 486 on the net, I've got an ethernet card to
sell you ;) Tell your friends, neighbors and random people on the street.
I just want to get rid of most of this stuff...
Let me know!
