The part about turning off the hard drive pisses me off the most. It
probably takes more energy to start it than to keep it running. Also, hard
drives have a limited number of turn on/off cycles before they break down.
Not to mention that they barely consume any electricity when they're just
running. Of course, if you use your computer once a week and leave it on
24/7 it makes sense. But it doesn't make sense to leave it on 24/7 in that
case.
