It also reduces the chance that you will be able to get the thing to come back to life with out a cold boot. :-)
I wish they would get that stuff straightened out so it works right. I like the idea of sleep mode and APM, but it never works as stated. At least I can get my monitor to power down with DDC.

Well, this is why the EPA got into the whole "green PC" gig. They
probably even have the numbers you're looking for. Apple PCs and
notebooks have a really efficient sleep mode that you can use (it spins
down the harddrive, blanks the screen, and slows the processor). The
nice thing about that is that is that it also reduces the amount of heat
the thing gives off.
