So were those solar flares today that were knocking the power out? For
unknown reasons that nasty blinking behavior fudged my NFS up quite
nicely. It seems that when the clients booted up for some reason they
tried to repair the NFS mounts and put a lot of weird bogus stuff on
there.

Luckily I had just saved the program I was writing seconds before the
first power outage. Mmmmm Python is cool. :)
