Didn't see it though I remember a thing about a guy who built a house out
of coke cans.

My island is a boat and is mobile. It has a body designed to skeletal with
the ability to move so the entire frame can wiggle and propel itself
forward like an animal. It's designed to ride along the surface of the
ocean on this framework and absorb all but really big waves and be strong
enough not to break even during those waves (it's a sealed titanium
flamework designed with joints that allow it to be flexible). It's of a
module design so all parts can be interchanged so you can carry along a
decent amount of spare parts fairly easily and change them with the boat
in the water or even in motion. On top the floating framework is a layer
that also can bend a lil but much less (rigid enough to build buildings
on) with a shock absorbing system that allows it to glide along on top the
framework. I'd probably have farms and homes etc built on this
surface. Since the whole thing is module based you could build it in parts
by whatever you could afford at any given time. Start off with something
the size of a decent ocean going boat and make it as big as ya wanted. :)

The govt wouldn't be able to take my island. As it's design is very module
it is very distributed making it very hard to sink (you'd hafta wipe out a
significant portion to sink the entire thing) and it'd have data pipes and
electricity over the entire grid which would allow you to have it defend
itself as an animal might by whiping it's body etc.. Of course being far
out to sea lowers the chance of being hassled.

Is kind of a goofy idea but I'm pretty sure it'd work. I doubt the
government would care to try to take it anyway as all it would be is a
very odd boat.
