Here's the sticky issue -- how much of the trouble solved by lawyers is
also *caused* by lawyers? Of course they help people in trouble! That's
what they're paid for. They also get people in trouble.
For any problem there are equal and opposite lawyers being paid to argue
about it.
Almost any time you need a lawyer to help you, that lawyer is helping you
to deal with a problem created by another lawyer.
With equal and opposite lawyers, the good done by some is canceled by the
bad done by others. So we break even, right? No! Because ... and this
is the big problem ... they all got **paid**.
I know they aren't all evil, but they create (and solve) a large share of
our problems.
