I guess they got burned with somebody running a high-volume news server
somewhere, or they figure that's the highest-risk service.  Or they are
being jealous, since news service is part of what they offer through @Home.

I can't imagine that someone sucked up that much bandwidth, though, since
upstream is clamped to ~256Kb (unless it was the downstream bandwidth they
are concerned about or perhaps the fact that cable modem segments are shared
and they're worried about fair use).
