Am I the only one who thinks, "Wow, Perl?" when I see this? Oh well.

We don't use script kiddie terms like elite to describe what we do. I do
security stuff for the educational value. You'll have to ask the other
people in Computing and Network Security what their motivation is.

The only time I ever go beyond a scan to break into a computer is when I
want to be dead sure there's a problem. Relying on scan data all the time
is bad. Just because a security scan shows you have a problem doesn't mean
you do.

On the other hand, I can only go so far. Our policy is not to disrupt
normal services. This means that things like buffer overflows and denial
of service attacks generally aren't tested except for on accident. I
accidentaly brought an IIS server to its knees one time from an overflow,
and Greg effectively brought campus e-mail to a halt one morning with
Nessus' DoS plugins. We're only human :)

Maybe I should skate around IATS wearing dark clothes and call myself the
Plague. The closest I came was when Mark brought in his scooter, and Ryan
and I would fly all over the IATS basement late at night. My l33t h4x0r1ng
sk1llz broke it when I tried to force it to straighten on a table :(

Regards,
Neil
