I wasn't following the "cd-r doesn't get detected" thread on the mlug
member list, but I doubt the problem I'm having was addressed there. My
issue is a computer hardware problem, not a Linux problem, so I'm putting
it on this list.
I have a problem with my SCSI CD-RW. I think (pretty sure) it's working
like this: If I reboot my computer, the SCSI card does not detect the
CD-RW and I can't access it at all while the system is up. If I turn the
computer off, wait five minutes, and turn it back on, the SCSI card
detects the CD-RW, and everything works. When the SCSI card does not
detect the CD-RW, it still properly detects the other SCSI device on the
system (external ZIP).
Therefore, it doesn't seem like the SCSI card is the problem, so it's
probably the CD-RW or the SCSI cable. Of course, the problem it might be
related to temperature.
Has anyone had a similar problem? Know of any way to fix it or test for
the source of the problem?
TIA.
Mike
