Almost certainly possible, of course, but sometimes I can't help shedding
a tear here for the late, great Usenet.  Email lists like this one used to
be neccessary primarily when privacy or avoiding broken-ness were the main
goals; otherwise, you'd just have a non-propogated newsgroup and local
types could/would just use whatever happily threaded/non-threaded
newsreader they liked.  Mailbox pollution was not a problem, and
since everybody was addicted to news anyway, there was no perceived
additional hassle.

Not that I'm suggesting we move the list to news, but it's always
interesting that what goes around, comes around.
